Anxiety and Depression.

I also treat anxiety and depression. Mood disorders are often the result of life transitions, painful experiences, difficult relationships, and negative internalized self-concept. I think about depression as a condition of being stuck in the past and anxiety as an issue of living too far in the future – either way, you may find that you are missing out on your present life.

I believe good mental health practice gives us the language to feel, express and navigate a range of positive and challenging/ uncomfortable emotions. As well as the tools, insight, and bandwidth to make empowered choices about responding to adversity while thriving.

“Depression is not necessarily pathological. It often foreshadows a renewal of the personality or a burst of creative activity. There are moments in human life when a new page is turned.”

Carl Jung

While it is normal to feel sad and anxious at times, particularly in response to difficult life circumstances, transitions, or losses, chronic anxiety and depression can cause us to feel stuck.

My approach integrates collaborative insight development with exposure, mindfulness, behaviorism, and evidence drawn from modern neuropsychology, to promote long-term healing/ change. I am interested in the core contextual factors that underlie experiences of depression and anxiety. These insights in treatment contribute to greater agency, self-confidence and inner calmness. I utilize a variety of techniques to help you develop new strategies to cope with mood disturbances and live a fulfilling life.
